Winter Jam Artists Brave Snow, Traffic on Tour

By March 6, 2015No Comments

They don’t call it WINTER Jam for nothing. Artists on the Winter Jam 2015 Tour Spectacular are criss-crossing the U.S., hopping through 47 cities in 3 months while facing inclement weather, cold & flu season, and temperatures ranging from unseasonably cold to really warm!

On Thursday, Skillet band members were stranded for hours on their way to the Springfield, MO show due to heavy snow. A tractor trailer had jackknifed across the interstate and CBS News covered the traffic snarl, featuring Skillet’s violinist Jonathan Chu (pictured) in their news segment.

Wintry weather has affected at least two other shows. Snowy and icy conditions prevented many people from attending the Grand Rapids, MI concert at Van Andel Arena back in January, although nearly 6,500 were able to attend. The February 26 concert at BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo, MS had to be rescheduled to March 26 for icy road conditions, as well.

All in all, a few misshaps out of 33 concerts so far isn’t too bad for a wintertime tour. Winter Jam is heading into the last four weekends of the tour with 14 more concerts to go.

On Friday, Winter Jam will be welcomed to INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, KS;  Saturday at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK; and Sunday at Ft. Worth Convention Center, in Fort Worth, TX.

Please join the Jam Tour office, Premier Productions staff, band members, crew and volunteers as we continue to pray for good weather, and well as safe travel, good health and protection for the artists, attendees, and everyone involved. Winter Jam is making a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Thank you for being a part of it.
