By April 1, 2019No Comments

UNPLANNED – the biopic on the life of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director – exceeded its pre-release projections to become the No. 5 movie at the box office this past weekend. The film took in more than $6 million or a cumulative per-screen average of $5,770 on only 1,059 locations across the country. It is expanding to more than 1,700 locations this week.

The film received a rare A+ CinemaScore, as well. A coveted A+ from Cinemascore movie audiences is a rare occurrence. A+ scores mean strong word of mouth business, repeated viewings and is the best industry indicator of box office success. Since 1982, about eighty films have received the top mark, averaging to about two movies per year

Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation.

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.

Until the day she saw something that changed everything, leading Abby Johnson to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life, and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.
