Staying True to His Roots, Mac Powell Goes Country

Mac Powell, lead singer and frontman for Third Day, recently released his debut country music album.Though Third Day continues to go strong with a new release slated for later this fall, Powell put together a collection of country songs that reach back into the musical influences of his childhood. “The rootsy collection of foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ country tunes is a way for Mac to pay tribute to his early musical inspirations,” according to his website www.macpowell.comThere are 12 original songs on his debut with such titles as “Sweet Georgia Girl,” “June Bug,” and “This Ain’t No Hobby.” He’s put together a fall tour, including an Oct. 3 concert at Houston’s House of Blue, to showcase his new down-home offerings.
