Mac Powell Gives a Nod to Country Roots

Lead singer and frontman for Third Day, Mac Powell recently released his debut country music album. “The rootsy collection of foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ country tunes is a way for Mac to pay tribute to his early musical inspirations,” according to his website www.macpowell.comAlthough Third Day continues to go strong with a new release slated for later this fall, Powell put together a down-home collection of country songs that reach way back into the musical influences of his childhood. There are 12 original songs on his debut with such titles as “Sweet Georgia Girl,” “June Bug,” and “This Ain’t No Hobby.” He has put together a fall tour, including an Oct. 3 concert at Houston’s House of Blues, to showcase his new country music offerings.
