‘Unplanned’ Opens Tonight; GMA Releases List of Faith-Based Movies for 2019

The Gospel Music Association recently posted a list of some faith-based movies on their site and in their newsletter “The Beat This Week.” Check out some of these soon-to-be and recently released movies, including Unplanned:

* Run The Race” (started 2/22) Two brothers, shaken by tragedies, show what’s possible when you run to the overwhelming love of God.  Produced by Tim & Robby Tebow.

*  “The Best Of Enemies” (starts 4/5) Based on the 1971 true story of the unlikely relationship between an outspoken civil rights activist and a local Ku Klux Klan leader. With Academy Award® nominee Taraji P. Henson and Academy Award® winner Sam Rockwell.

* “Noah” (** 4/9, 11, 13) Lavishly-produced Broadway quality, musical presentation filmed before a live audience of the Biblical account of the Noah and the Great Flood.

* “Breakthrough” (starts 4/17) True story of a boy who falls through the ice and “dies.” Produced by DeVon Franklin (Miracles from Heaven, The Star).

* “Ben Hur” (** 4/17, 19) 60th Anniversary showing of the 1959 film starring Charlton Heston as Judah Ben Hur. Based on the classic 1880 book Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ, which was written by a skeptic turned believer.

* “The Pilgrims Progress” (** 4/18, 20) Animated CGI version of John Bunyan’s classic 1678 book of an allegory of the Christian life.

* “Kingdom Men Rising: No Excuses” (** 4/29, 30) Dr. Tony Evans and his guests explore what it means to be a real man in the midst of confusing cultural trends.

* “Chonda Pierce: Unashamed” (** 5/7, 9) Chonda communicates deep and meaningful truth making you laugh at the same time. With guests Mike Huckabee, Danny Gokey and the Benham Brothers.

* Biggest Little Farm (starts 5/10) Documentarian John Chester and his wife Molly work to develop a sustainable farm on 200 acres outside of Los Angeles.

* “The Favorite” (starts 5/31) Story of two brothers as they experience love, forgiveness, loss, healed relationships and ultimately the realization that we are all God’s Favorite. Inspired by true events. Starring John Schneider.

* “Emanuel” (** 6/17, 19) On 6/17/2015, A white supremacist murdered nine African Americans during their Bible Study. Victims and survivors share their story of justice and faith, love and hate, examining the healing power of forgiveness.

* “Other Side of Heaven 2: Fire of Faith (6/20) Sequel to the acclaimed Disney-distributed film of 2001, The Other Side of Heaven 2 continues the inspiring true saga of Elder John H. Groberg as he returns to the islands with his wife and five young daughters to serve as president of the Tonga-Fiji mission.

* “One Nation Under God” (** 7/4) Explores the role of religion in schools, first amendment rights and the courage necessary to stand by one’s convictions. With Kevin Sorbo.

* “Overcomer” (starts 8/23) Tragedy turns to triumph as an unlikely coach helps the least likely runner attempt the impossible in the biggest race of the year. From the Kendrick Brothers (Facing the Giants, War Room).

* “The Reliant” (late 2019) A family fights for survival and to hold onto their faith as society collapses around them. Apocalyptic thriller with a pro-2nd Amendment message. Starring Kevin Sorbo and Brian Bosworth.

* “Roe V. Wade” (Fall 2019) Untold story of the lies and manipulation that resulted in legalized abortion in America. Produced by Dr. Alveda King (Niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) Starring Jon Voight and Steve Guttenberg.
