Our nation has endured some difficult days and now the healing begins.

On Sunday, church bells rang across Charleston, South Carolina as people of faith gathered to worship and pray and reflect on the horrifying events of last week. And while debate enraged and engulfed the nation, the people of Emanuel AME Church kept their eyes and their hearts focused on Jesus Christ. They discovered an eternal truth – that God’s grace will sustain them through all of it.

That’s the message Christian singer and “American Idol” alum Colton Dixon conveys in his new music video, “Through All of It,” which debuted today on my show. Through all of it – through the darkest days – God’s grace will carry us.

Dixon’s video was filmed long before the church massacre, but the message of the video holds a truth that is relevant today.

“I had no idea when we were scheduling the premiere what would take place,” he said.

And that’s why Dixon has chosen to dedicate “Through All of It” to the people impacted by the Charleston church attack. Dixon told me he was especially moved by something Elder Norvel Goff told the congregation of the historic Charleston church.

“It’s by faith that we are standing here and sitting here,” he said. “It has been tough. It has been rough. Some of us have been downright angry. But through it all God has sustained us.”

Dixon told me he hopes the people of Charleston are encouraged by the video.

“Through it all God has sustained us – that is the epitome of this song,” he said. “I want people to hear and be encouraged by this.”

And that’s why he decided to dedicate the video to the Emanuel AME Church and every Charlestonian impacted by the attack.
